near4rest team visited the “Helpless Children Home” situated in the
southern area of Kirtipur, Kathmandu in Feb, 2024. We undertook a
renovation project, repainting the facade of the orphanage and installing
new kitchen equipment. “Helpless Children Home” is located at No. 6,
Kirtipur Municipality, under the cultivating of Director Nar Bahadur Limbu
and Secretary Bharat Dhakal, who oversee all internal and external
affairs.
The majority of the original white walls at “Helpless Children Home” were
deteriorating and peeling, and numerous lighting fixtures had lost their
functionality. After thorough on-site assessments, the near4rest team
crafted a tailored plan for exterior facade repair and lighting updates.
Taking into account the children’s preferences, the approximately 600-
square-meter facade was revitalized with a vibrant and refreshing fruit
green hue, while 12 lighting fixtures in the walkways and children’s rooms
were upgraded to ensure proper illumination.
At the orphanage, two nanny sisters oversee the daily lives of 32 children
aged 5 to 18. Before the kitchen upgrade, they struggled with old
equipment, spending up to four hours preparing meals. However, with
new pressure cookers, woks, and stoves, efficiency greatly improved. The
near4rest team enjoyed participating in the revamped meal preparations,
resulting in quicker and more enjoyable dinners.
near4rest aims not only to provide financial support to children but also
to instill in them with enthusiasm and love for their home, environment,
and surroundings. We prioritize their sustainable growth and physical and
mental well-being. Furthermore, we envision these children becoming
ambassadors of Kathmandu, imbued with near4rest’s vision. Through
their youthful and infectious energy, they spread goodwill beyond
borders, injecting young power into the world.
WE AIM TO BE A CULTURAL SAFE HAVEN,
TO BRIDGE THE ONES IN NEED AND THE ONES WHO SHARES.
